Gadabout is a blend of white varieties from all over the Golden State, showcasing California’s lesser-known grapes in an effort to provide delicious natural wines at an everyday price. The result, according to Wine Director Liz Mann of Spoke Wine Bar, is “rich, ripe, and definitely earthy, with a lot of texture and complexity. It really keeps going.” The nose opens with rustic wild earth and wet soil aromas before giving way to orchard fruits like apples, pears, and fresh hay. The palate is bold but elegant, with a persistent forest floor note that continues on the finish. Snappy acidity and structure make this a versatile food wine, but Mann suggests pairings with root vegetables, mushrooms, and hearty cheeses.
