Nero d'Avola can produce a bold, full-bodied wine that can sometimes be overpowering. The Gorghi Tondi Nero d'Avola however is a softer expression of this dark-fruit grape. A beaming ruby red color and a striking bright nose of dried hibiscus, tamarind and salt of the earth. On the palate, fig jam and black licorice followed by restrained tannins. It is aged for 5 months in stainless steel tanks and then for 2 months in the bottle before release. In the words of the Sala sisters, "this wine contains all the soul of the Sicilian micro continent."
