A Love Letter From Campagnia

CURATED BY ROBERT TAYLOR
GENERAL MANAGER & WINE DIRECTOR OF BENEDETTO

*DELIVERIES BEGIN NOVEMBER 8TH*

As a business that understands there are real people, real families, crafting the wine we enjoy, it is lovely to see those sentiments shared across the industry. As General Manager and Wine Director at Benedetto, Robert Taylor employs these shared philosophies when he chooses wine for his list. One glance at his list and you will quickly discover that your Sauvignon Blanc by the glass is not there. Instead, you will find Vermentino, Falanghina, and Verdicchio. Robert creates a space for conversation, and this month the conversation is all about Campania.
Grab your passport everyone. We are headed to Campania, where the white wine is subtle yet nuanced and Aglianico reigns supreme. This month we are the beneficiaries of Robert Taylor’s knowledge which was bolstered by his recent trip to Campania. One drop-dead gorgeous Greco, some choice Aglianico, and little known Casavecchia will have you booking plane tickets before you can finish a bottle. Think Pizza Napoletana, think pasta with clams. Get excited and get into these truly fantastic wines. Cheers!

  • Vigne Guadagno Greco di Tufo: Medium body, chic white with notes of minerality, jackfruit and unripe pears. Delicately saline, perfect amount of acidity, and a finish that never finishes. Smooth as silk. Pair with polenta or spaghetti con le vongole.
  • Rosso di Baal:Full body, vibrant red blend with boysenberries on the nose and cherries and cocoa butter on the palette. Bursting with brilliant dark fruit as it breathes. Try this with Cinghiale (boar), cured meats and rich sausage.
  • Santo Sano Aglianico Full body and assertive red with notes of Dried rose, bittersweet chocolate and carpaccio. This can go with anything off the grill and most certainly Parmigiana Melanzane.
  • Il Gallo di Fretta Canta All'Alba Lontana Full body, grandoise red that is chalky, meaty and woodsy all at once! This wine is your replacement for Cabernet Sauvignon!
