A Study on the Classics

CURATED BY CHRIS CAMPBELL
OWNER/SOMMELIER OF TROQUET ON SOUTH

*DELIVERIES BEGIN JULY 6TH*

Having spent two years in a small village outside Beaune as a young man, Chris Campbell developed a love for all things Burgundian. Luckily for us he brought his obsession back to the Boston restaurant scene. Chris admits that he rarely takes time away from his restaurant. His devotion to quality is obvious. It’s enviable, really.

Any opportunity to enjoy classic French food the way it was intended to be made should be capitalized upon, which is why we should all make our reservations now. This month we want you to leisurely savor each of your wines. Find the nuances. Swirl, sniff, and taste your way through France and Spain. Remember why they are benchmarks of the Old World.

T H E   W I N E S

  • Mâcon-Lugny, Les Charmes, Chardonnay, 2018 –  Medium bodied and so Enchanting. Honeycomb & Freshly Cut Flowers. This is the cashmere sweater of wines. So delicate, so smooth, so ready for food. Pair with Troquet's White Asparagus or Maine Hake.
  • Bodegas Muga, Rioja Rosado – Medium bodied and so cheerful. Rasperry Coulis, Crushed Heirloom Tomatoes. This rosado gives you the warmest hug. Reminds us of grandma making tomato sauce. Pair with Troquet's Lyonnaise Salad or Pan-Roasted Monkfish.
  • Kermit Lynch, Côtes du Rhône, "Cypress Cuvée", 2018 – Full bodied and pleasantly sanguine. Blackberry, Coffee Grounds, Cedar Chips. Fresh blackberries surrounded by cedar trees, cinnamon, and molasses. Pair with Troquet's Veal Sirloin or The Boston Speed Hot Dog.
  • Bodegas Eguren, Sierra Cantabria, Reserva Única, 2015 – Full bodied and robust. Potting Soil, Red Licorice, Canella. Quite the powerhouse. This wine tastes like it was pulled straight from the earth. Pair with Troquet's Steak Frites or Garganelli Bolognese.
