The Negro Lorenzo estate is in Monteu Roero, in the heart of the Roero region of Langhe in Piedmont, just north of Barolo. Lorenzo Negro's family has been making wine here since the late 19th century and while he takes pride in the winery’s history and traditions, he breathes a modern vibe to the winery which was renovated in 2006. The winery's location is an area that is described by the locals as being jagged and rough around the edges.

The area's sandy soil is full of marine fossils that result in more elegant wines compared to those in surrounding zones. The scallop shell that is on Lorenzo’s labels was found during the planting of new vines. Chestnut trees, peaches, apricots and plums coexist in the land and the biodiversity of the plantings contribute to the complexity of their wine.
