Importing Company : Saperavi Brothers

Curted by Kosta Chernikov , Owner / Importer

Deliveries Start Monday January 13th

Georgia is celebrated as the birthplace of wine, with a winemaking tradition dating back over 8,000 years. Nestled at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, it is home to the earliest evidence of wine cultivation, where ancient clay vessels called qvevris were used for fermenting and aging wine—a method still practiced today. Georgian wines are crafted from unique indigenous grape varieties like Saperavi used to make red wine and Rkatsiteli which is used to make white and amber wines.

This month Georgian wine importer and friend, Kosta Chernikov, chose a few favorites from his home country in addition to a wine from Bulgaria, another region that has been producing wine for thousands of years but is only now beginning to gain recognition. We hope you enjoy this little adventure through the Caucuses and the Balkans.

  • Tamar, White Blend - Bright, clean, and totally refreshing. Think white pear, sea salt, and fantastic body.
  • Artizani, Orange Affair - White cherries, dried hibiscus, honeydew. This medium bodied amber wine is such a treat to sip on.
  • Marmenio Saperavi - Sticky, berried, and incredibly fun. This low-intervention Saperavi is full of dried blueberries with bloody good tannin.
  • Colorito, Melnik Pinot Noir - This crunchy, earthy blend is full of red currants and is all we want to drink right now. So savory, so herbaceous.
