“When I opened Select, I said I’m just going to run this like a little bistro, and I’ll figure out the wine list. I’ll pick wines that I like and do what makes sense for this place, and it worked.” – Michael Serpa

Obviously, Michael did something that made sense because he went on to be awarded Best Wine Program in 2016 at his own Select Oyster Bar. He has since expanded his expertise to his lists at Grand Tour and atlántico. This month you’re getting four wines that reflect Michael’s ethos: delicious wines made by cool people.

Razor sharp Riesling. A gorgeous Provence-style rosé by way of Ballard Canyon. A Paso Robles blend that should make Tuscany nervous. And a juicy Rioja that will have you reaching for your passport. Get ready to pop your corks and make a reservation at one of Michael’s restaurants.

  • Ansgar Clüsserath, Trittenheimer Apothekeriesling –  Sharp and Glimmering. Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, Verbena. Get ready to drool, this wine is seriously mouthwatering. Pair with Grand Tour's Duck Breast.
  • Stolpman Vineyards, Estate Rosé – So Sophisticated. Peonies, White Nectarine, Wild Strawberries. Eat your heart out Provence, Ballard Canyon has something to say. Pair this with the Blue Prawns from Select Oyster Bar.
  • Giornata, Il Campo Rosso – Gravely and so Intriguing. Clay, Molasses, Cherry Kirsch. This is what Sangiovese should be. Pair with atlántico's Pulpo or Lengua.
  • Olivier RivièreRayos Uva – Full-bodied yet restrained. Anise, Red Plum, Ash. We love berries covered in dirt. Must pair with Grand Tour's Lamb Rib Chop.

  • Casa di Baal, Torno Subito - 100% Barbera del Sannio from Colli di Salerno IGT - Campania, Italy - Barbera del Sannio bears no relation to Barbera d’Alba. At first sniff you get a flash of roses and violets which is followed by a mineral-driven, delicately funky finish. It’s the perfect wine to share with friends.

  • Fermina, Red Wine - 100% Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) from Valencia, Spain - It’s not even summer and this wine has us dreaming of autumn. Cranberries, plums, wet leaves, a little sage. But with a slight chill, it’s going to be perfect for summer. This is your weekend picnic wine for sure.
